Gnomes Cafe Has Closed

We apologise for any inconvenience but the cafe at Gnomes has closed. Yester-years at Gnomes, the secondhand shop out the front of the building is still operating and still is packed full of gorgeous vintage items but for now the cafe is shut. Thank you all very much for all your custom and loyalty for the three months we were operating. We will miss seeing our regulars and catching up with those of you who made the effort to come in.

Don't forget The Wild Parrot in Denham Street is a great place for coffee and light lunches.

Thanks and catch you around sometime,
Moti Hooper

Take Tea at Gnomes!

Gnomes is delighted to introduce the traditional "English-style" afternoon tea, in shabby chic fashion, served on tiered cake stands with mismatched floral crockery and fine china.

Come into the garden, regardless of whether your name is Maud or not, and enjoy one of our delicious loose leaf teas served on a tray in a proper teapot, complete with a little jug of milk and a gorgeous fat china or glass bowl with real sugar lumps and sugar tongs. Nibble delicately at the array of tempting pastries, cakes and sandwiches displayed elegantly on our pretty cake stands.

Listen to the fountain tinkling merrily away in the background while you relax and enjoy the age-old custom of the taking of tea. Bring your friends and make it an occasion, or bring your colleagues and network over a 'Power Tea' - more digestible than a business lunch, less disruptive then a brunch...

Book now on 4927 2466 for the Gnomes Teas as they are filling up fast!

The Powell Tea is $15.00 per person and includes the following;
  • a pot of loose-leaf tea and a single tier cake stand with an array of hand made cakes per two guests.
The Worthington Tea is $20.00 per person and includes the following;
  • a pot of loose-leaf tea and a two-tier cake stand with an array of cakes, a savoury pastry and three sandwiches per two guests (vegetarian fillings e.g egg and cress, cucumber, vintage cheddar cheese etc).
The Palmer-Fairbairn Tea is $55.00 per person and includes the following;
  • a glass of delicious icy cold fruit punch on arrival for each guest;
  • a pot of loose-leaf tea and a three-tier cake stand with an array of cakes, savoury pastries and sandwiches and hand made cookies per two guests.
  • a celebration cake including bespoke icing to suit your celebration and/or theme.
  • Complimentary table decorations including balloon bouquets and fresh flowers as well as colour-coordinated linen.
  • Hand and foot massages for your guest of honour
  • Party bags for each of your guests to take home as a momento of your event.

A Vegetarian Cafe in the Beef Capital of Australia

Winter in the city that slumbers on the Tropic of Capricorn. It's lunchtime, you're tired, and sick of hamburgers or the ubiquitous chicken caesar salad for lunch. It's time for a change, something unique and different. Maybe it's the Aquarian in your tenth house but you seek a new lunchtime adventure. So, why not try Gnomes in William Street, Rockhampton? Come and enjoy delicious vegetarian meals in the haven of the courtyard garden, by the fountain or under the mango tree. There's no guilt about the environmental impact of livestock methane here, because there's no meat. But it's not lentils and veggie stew in mandatory hemp hairshirts either. Gnomes' believe that vegetarian food is equally as delicious and enticing as non-vegetarian food and that you can enjoy ethical eating as a sensual experience.

You can enjoy one of three quiches; swiss cheese and asparagus, mushroom and avocado or leek and potato, served with or without Gnomes' standard crisp, fresh, comprehensive salad.

There is a gluten free pumpkin, feta and sage frittata and gluten free vegetarian sausage rolls and options for vegans, such as; warming vegetable soup, chick pea curry and rice and freshly made guacamole or hoummus, full of organic chick peas, made when you order, and served with crudites, corn chips and/or toasted pita bread.

There is delicious coffee, including Gnomes' signature "lava-lamp" cafe lattes, and a wonderful mouth-watering array of homemade cakes, with gluten-free options always on the menu.

Take the time to enjoy your lunch at a leisurely pace. Gnomes tries to use organic produce where possible, and operates from a health conscious and holistic platform, so no microwaves are used. It'll take a few minutes for your lunch to warm up but sit by the fire or the fountain and relax, let the green of the garden soak into your senses and leave all your worries behind for a moment. Unwind, you've worked hard, you deserve it.

After lunch, potter around "Yester-years" the antique and vintage furniture and furnishings shop that shares the same building as Gnomes. Find a gift for someone special or that piece of furniture you know has been missing from your dining room.

If you work, make a booking on 07 4927 2466 indicating what, when and how many and your lunch will be ready when you arrive.

Gnomes caters either at the cafe or off-site. Email your requirements and dates to gnomescafe@gmail.com
